Sharps disposal
Please note that all patients prescribed sharps should now be getting a SharpsGuard or similar prescribed alongside their medication; this should then be sealed and returned to the patient’s own GP practice for disposal; please see the letter from NHS England Area Team and information on safer management of sharps below…
The Safe Management of Healthcare Waste: Sharps
All pharmacies who have been a part of the NHS Flu service will have had a sharps bin delivered to them for the sharps waste produced in the operation of the service; this should not to be used for patient-generated sharps waste.
